Simply Fleet alternatives
past the five-vehicle free tier
Simply Fleet is free under five vehicles and $2 a vehicle after that, which makes it one of the cheapest genuine fleet products available. The things worth checking are where its voice feature applies and what its offline claim actually covers.
Why people are looking
The voice feature is not on the inspection page
The homepage says drivers and technicians speak naturally while AI structures and saves the information in the correct record — scoped to fill-ups, expenses, mileage and issues.
It does not appear on the DVIR or inspection page. If you are choosing it because you want to speak a walkaround, confirm that first; based on what the vendor publishes, voice covers the logging features rather than the inspection form.
Offline covers the inspection, with a caveat from a user
The vendor says you can complete inspections where cell service is unavailable. A reviewer reports that uploading fill-ups and services still requires a connection.
Those are compatible — the inspection works offline, the logging features may not. Worth knowing which half of the app your day depends on.
Free stops at five vehicles and three users
A real free tier, not a trial. Essential is $2 a vehicle per month and Advanced is $4.
Even the paid tiers are inexpensive. The constraint is the three-user cap on free rather than the vehicle count, for most small operations.
The other side of it
What Simply Fleet does well
It is genuinely cheap and genuinely free at the bottom, and it covers maintenance, fuel and inspections rather than just one of them.
For a five-van operation that currently runs on a spreadsheet, it is a sensible first system and costs nothing to find out.
It also ships — AI voice and its assistant feature are recent additions rather than legacy marketing.
What the reviews say
Which in this case is almost nothing — and that is worth saying
Research note — not a user review
We found no dated critical reviews of Simply Fleet inside our window that we could attribute to a named reviewer with a date, which is the standard every quote on this site meets. Its App Store rating is 4.5 from around 250 ratings. Rather than paraphrase an unattributed comment, this page rests on the vendor's own documentation — specifically, which pages the voice claim appears on and which it does not.

The alternatives
Every price below is the published list price for a single user at the time of writing. Where offline behaviour is undocumented by the vendor, it says so rather than guessing.
Fleetio
Offline, with limits~$20–25/mo for 5 vehicles
$4/vehicle/mo annual; Pro and Premium are annual-only
- Best for
- A fleet that needs inspections joined up to maintenance, parts, fuel and vehicle history.
- Offline
- Narrower than the marketing: the help documentation says “Offline functionality in Fleetio Go is currently only available for Inspection Submissions”, and that “Pending Inspections will NOT upload when the app is closed or minimized.”
- Watch out for
- Offline covers inspection submissions and nothing else, and backgrounding the app stops pending inspections uploading.
- Platforms
- iOS · Android · web
Driveroo (now ROO.AI)
Undocumented$5/asset/mo
Pro $7; annual contracts required and minimums apply, unpublished
- Best for
- A fleet that wants unlimited users and per-asset rather than per-seat pricing.
- Offline
- Stated but undetailed — the vendor advertises “online or offline operation” and documents no sync model behind it.
- Watch out for
- Minimums apply and are not published, and the brand is mid-migration to ROO.AI with no rebrand date announced.
- Platforms
- iOS 16.1+ · Android · web
Powerfleet Inspect
UndocumentedContact sales
no figures, minimums or free tier published
- Best for
- Commercial trucking operations that want DVIR joined to hours-of-service and telematics.
- Offline
- Undocumented. No offline statement appears anywhere on the product or store listings, which is a conspicuous gap for a DVIR tool used in yards.
- Watch out for
- Renamed twice — Fleet Complete became Powerfleet on 1 October 2024, and FC Inspect became Unity Inspect on 30 May 2025 — so support material is scattered across three names.
- Platforms
- iOS · Android · tablets · web — EN/FR/ES
FleetGO
Needs a connection£2/vehicle/mo
“no sign-up fees, extra charges”; minimums not stated
- Best for
- UK and Benelux transport operators wanting DVSA-shaped checks alongside tachograph and telematics data.
- Offline
- None, stated plainly in their own FAQ: “You need a working internet connection to use the FleetGO Driver App.”
- Watch out for
- The driver app does not work without a connection, which is the condition a yard walkaround is most likely to be in.
- Platforms
- iOS · Android · web
ReportWalk
Works offlineFree to start
monthly plans for higher volumes
- Best for
- One person who needs the report finished before they leave the site.
- Offline
- Photos, voice notes and answers are written to the phone first and sync when signal returns. A whole inspection can run in a basement with no bars.
- Watch out for
- iPhone only, and it is deliberately not a business platform — no scheduling, no invoicing, no CRM.
- Platforms
- iPhone · web forms in any browser
Disclosure — this is our site
Where ReportWalk fits
Simply Fleet tracks the vehicle over time. We produce the document that comes off one walkaround.
Photographs carry GPS, time and the weather at that moment; the defect you describe out loud becomes a written finding; a branded PDF and a shareable link are finished before you leave the yard.
Voice drives the whole capture rather than one category of record, and everything writes to the phone before it reaches a server.
Where we lose
Free under five vehicles, with maintenance and fuel history attached, is a better deal than ours for a small fleet. If you need vehicle history rather than a document, start there.

How this page was made
Prices come from vendor pricing pages, offline behaviour from vendor help documentation, and quotes from G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, GetApp and the App Store, each carrying its reviewer, source and date. Where a claim comes from a customer rather than the vendor, the page says so. Where something is undocumented, it says that too. Software pricing changes — check the vendor before you decide, and tell us if you find something here that has gone stale.
