Fleetio is a well-run product with an enormous user base — twenty-two thousand ratings at 4.6 stars is not an accident. This page exists for one reason: the gap between what its marketing says about working offline and what its own help documentation says.
Why people are looking
Offline covers inspection submissions. Only that.
The help documentation: “Offline functionality in Fleetio Go is currently only available for Inspection Submissions.”
For a walkaround that may be all you need. For anything else in the app on a bad-signal site, it is not there — and the marketing language around connectivity is broader than the documentation supports.
Background the app and pending inspections stop uploading
Also from the help documentation: “Pending Inspections will NOT upload when the app is closed or minimized.”
A driver finishes a walkaround, locks the phone, drives off. That is the normal sequence, and it is the one that does not complete the upload. Worth knowing before you build a compliance process on top of it.
The most useful complaint came from a five-star reviewer
A Capterra reviewer who rated Fleetio 5.0 overall still named the mobile app as the biggest drawback. That is worth more than an angry one-star, because there is nothing to discount.
A second reviewer reports a saved signature being dropped on every logout — which matters more than it sounds, because logging out is also what breaks Fleetio's own documented offline prerequisite.
The other side of it
What Fleetio does that a reporting tool cannot
It joins the inspection to everything downstream: maintenance, parts, fuel, vehicle history, service records. A failed item on a walkaround becomes a work order against a specific vehicle with a cost attached.
At roughly $4 per vehicle per month it is also genuinely inexpensive for what it does, and the company raised over $450M and acquired Auto Integrate in March 2025.
If you run a fleet, you need a fleet system. We are not one, and a walkaround app that does not know what a vehicle is will not replace it.
