Powerfleet Inspect alternatives
and the offline question nobody answered

Fleet Complete → Powerfleet (1 Oct 2024) · FC Inspect → Unity Inspect (30 May 2025)

This product has been renamed twice in under a year, which makes it unusually hard to research — and in the course of doing so we could not find a single statement about what it does without a signal. For a DVIR tool used in yards, that is the gap worth naming.

Why people are looking

Offline is undocumented, and that is conspicuous here

We checked the product page, the hours-of-service page and both store listings. There is no offline statement anywhere.

That is not the same as saying it does not work offline, and we will not say that. But a driver vehicle inspection report is produced in a yard, a depot or a layby — the places signal is worst — and the absence of any claim at all is more notable in this category than it would be in most.

Three names for one product

Fleet Complete was acquired by Powerfleet on 1 October 2024. FC Inspect became Unity Inspect on 30 May 2025. The legacy app has been dormant since September 2022.

Practically: support articles, reviews and documentation are scattered across three brands, and working out which applies to the version you are being sold takes longer than it should.

No published pricing at all

No figures, no minimums and no free tier are published. Every evaluation starts with a sales conversation.

The other side of it

What Powerfleet offers

DVIR joined to hours-of-service and telematics from a single vendor, which is what a regulated trucking operation actually needs. If the inspection has to sit alongside ELD data in one compliance record, a standalone app does not do that.

It is also available in English, French and Spanish across iOS, Android, tablets and web — broader language coverage than most of this list.

What users actually wrote

Verbatim, with reviewer, source and date

Not reliable at all so far. Doesn't even work. Glitches and has issues when entering pre and post trips, they just disappear after doing them.
Jesse Jam12 · App Store (Unity Inspect) · 14 May 2025

Treat this as a weak signal: the Unity Inspect listing carries only two ratings in total, so one review is not a pattern. We publish it because the failure described — completed pre- and post-trips disappearing — is exactly what an undocumented offline model would look like from a driver's seat.

The alternatives

Every price below is the published list price for a single user at the time of writing. Where offline behaviour is undocumented by the vendor, it says so rather than guessing.

Fleetio

Offline, with limits

~$20–25/mo for 5 vehicles

$4/vehicle/mo annual; Pro and Premium are annual-only

Best for
A fleet that needs inspections joined up to maintenance, parts, fuel and vehicle history.
Offline
Narrower than the marketing: the help documentation says “Offline functionality in Fleetio Go is currently only available for Inspection Submissions”, and that “Pending Inspections will NOT upload when the app is closed or minimized.”
Watch out for
Offline covers inspection submissions and nothing else, and backgrounding the app stops pending inspections uploading.
Platforms
iOS · Android · web

Driveroo (now ROO.AI)

Undocumented

$5/asset/mo

Pro $7; annual contracts required and minimums apply, unpublished

Best for
A fleet that wants unlimited users and per-asset rather than per-seat pricing.
Offline
Stated but undetailed — the vendor advertises “online or offline operation” and documents no sync model behind it.
Watch out for
Minimums apply and are not published, and the brand is mid-migration to ROO.AI with no rebrand date announced.
Platforms
iOS 16.1+ · Android · web

Simply Fleet

Works offline

Free under 5 vehicles

3 users on the free tier; Essential $2/vehicle/mo; Advanced $4

Best for
A fleet under five vehicles that wants maintenance, fuel and inspections for nothing.
Offline
Claimed for the inspection itself — “Complete inspections where cell service is unavailable.” One reviewer counters that uploading fill-ups and services still needs a connection.
Watch out for
The voice capture is scoped to fill-ups, expenses, mileage and issues and does not appear on the DVIR page at all.
Platforms
iOS · Android · web

FleetGO

Needs a connection

£2/vehicle/mo

“no sign-up fees, extra charges”; minimums not stated

Best for
UK and Benelux transport operators wanting DVSA-shaped checks alongside tachograph and telematics data.
Offline
None, stated plainly in their own FAQ: “You need a working internet connection to use the FleetGO Driver App.”
Watch out for
The driver app does not work without a connection, which is the condition a yard walkaround is most likely to be in.
Platforms
iOS · Android · web

ReportWalk

Works offline

Free to start

monthly plans for higher volumes

Best for
One person who needs the report finished before they leave the site.
Offline
Photos, voice notes and answers are written to the phone first and sync when signal returns. A whole inspection can run in a basement with no bars.
Watch out for
iPhone only, and it is deliberately not a business platform — no scheduling, no invoicing, no CRM.

Disclosure — this is our site

Where ReportWalk fits

We are not a telematics platform and cannot join your inspection to hours-of-service data.

What we can state precisely is the thing this vendor has not: photographs, voice and answers are written to the phone's own database before anything is sent to a server, so a completed walkaround exists on the device whether or not the yard has signal.

Photos carry GPS, time and the weather at that moment, and the PDF is produced on the phone.

Where we lose

If you need DVIR inside an ELD and telematics compliance record, that is a real requirement we do not meet. A separate app means a separate record.

Questions

Does Powerfleet Inspect work offline?

The vendor does not say. We checked the product page, the hours-of-service page and both app store listings and found no offline statement. That is an absence of documentation rather than a documented no.

Is Unity Inspect the same as FC Inspect?

Yes. Fleet Complete was acquired by Powerfleet on 1 October 2024, and FC Inspect was renamed Unity Inspect on 30 May 2025. The older Fleet Complete app has been dormant since September 2022.

How much does Powerfleet Inspect cost?

Not published. There are no figures, minimums or free tier on the site.

How this page was made

Prices come from vendor pricing pages, offline behaviour from vendor help documentation, and quotes from G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, GetApp and the App Store, each carrying its reviewer, source and date. Where a claim comes from a customer rather than the vendor, the page says so. Where something is undocumented, it says that too. Software pricing changes — check the vendor before you decide, and tell us if you find something here that has gone stale.
