Safesite alternatives
free, but quiet since 2022
Safesite gives away safety inspections, hazard reporting and OSHA-shaped forms to an unlimited number of people, for nothing. That is a real offer. The reason to look at alternatives is not the product — it is the silence around it.
Why people are looking
The app ships. The company does not speak.
The iOS app shipped version 9.0.1 on 1 July 2026, so it is being maintained. But there has been no blog post since July 2022 and no press since January 2022.
That is the signature of maintenance mode: the lights are on, the product works, and nobody is building a future for it in public. For a free tool that may be perfectly acceptable. For something your safety programme depends on, it is worth weighing.
The vendor hedges its own offline claim
“Complete safety tasks with limited connectivity (offline mode).” Limited connectivity is not the same as no connectivity, and there is no help article expanding on it.
We have banded this as bounded rather than genuine specifically because of the vendor's own hedge. If your sites have no signal rather than poor signal, test it before relying on it.
A premise we could not confirm
Our research brief for this round included a reported acquisition of Safesite by Safety Management Group. We could not find any documentation of it anywhere — Safesite's own press page shows only the Foresight spin-out in 2020 and a Series B in 2022.
We are recording that here because we went looking for it. If someone has told you Safesite was acquired, ask them for the source; we could not find one.
The other side of it
What Safesite offers that we do not
Genuinely free, for unlimited members. Not ten seats, not a trial — unlimited people doing safety inspections, hazard reports and toolbox talks at no cost.
For a construction crew that currently does none of this because the software costs money, that is a straightforwardly good thing and we would rather they used it than nothing.
The OSHA framing is also real and well built rather than a template dump.
What the reviews say
Which in this case is almost nothing — and that is worth saying
Research note — not a user review
We found no dated reviews of Safesite inside our eighteen-month window. What the record shows instead is a split signal: an iOS release in July 2026 against a company that has published nothing since July 2022. We are calling that maintenance mode rather than abandonment, because the app is demonstrably still shipping — and we are flagging that the acquisition we were asked to verify does not appear to have happened.

The alternatives
Every price below is the published list price for a single user at the time of writing. Where offline behaviour is undocumented by the vendor, it says so rather than guessing.
Mitti (formerly SafetyCulture)
Works offlineFree for 10 seats
Premium $24/seat/mo billed annually
- Best for
- A safety or facilities team at more than one site that needs forms, actions and assets in one place.
- Offline
- Broad. Inspections, actions, assets and reports all work offline; analytics, the template editor and the public library do not.
- Watch out for
- AI features are now metered per seat, and April 2026 reviewers report changes landing without migration tools.
- Platforms
- iOS · Android · web
eAuditor
Works offlineFree for 10 seats
unlimited inspections on the free tier; Premium $9.99/seat/mo annual
- Best for
- A small team that wants ten free seats and unlimited inspections without a trial clock.
- Offline
- Genuine — “we made sure our app supports environments where you don’t have an internet connection.”
- Watch out for
- Almost no independent record exists — three App Store ratings and no Capterra reviews — so there is little evidence either way. No native iPad app.
- Platforms
- iOS 15.1+ · Android · web
GoAudits
Works offline$10/user/mo
billed annually; no free tier, 14-day trial
- Best for
- A multi-site team that wants one audit library, scoring and scheduled reports across several verticals.
- Offline
- Genuine — “Conduct mobile inspections on your preferred device, even offline.”
- Watch out for
- Two dated reviews describe the same template-setup friction. Its iOS app was last updated 9 June 2024 and carries 33 ratings, and the in-app subscription is listed at $299.99/yr against a $10/user/mo website price.
- Platforms
- iOS 15+ · Android · web
Connecteam
Needs a connectionFree for 10 employees
then $29/mo flat for the first 30 users
- Best for
- Scheduling, time clocks, chat and training for a deskless team — the forms are one module of many.
- Offline
- None, stated by the vendor: “it’s currently not possible to use Connecteam offline, whether from the mobile app, Kiosk application, or desktop.” It is on their roadmap.
- Watch out for
- No offline at all, by the vendor’s own account. If your crew works anywhere with patchy signal, the module you care about stops.
- Platforms
- iOS 15.5+ · Android · web · kiosk
ReportWalk
Works offlineFree to start
monthly plans for higher volumes
- Best for
- One person who needs the report finished before they leave the site.
- Offline
- Photos, voice notes and answers are written to the phone first and sync when signal returns. A whole inspection can run in a basement with no bars.
- Watch out for
- iPhone only, and it is deliberately not a business platform — no scheduling, no invoicing, no CRM.
- Platforms
- iPhone · web forms in any browser
Disclosure — this is our site
Where ReportWalk fits
We are not going to compete with free on price. The difference is the artefact.
Safesite records safety activity for your own programme. We produce a document for someone else — a client, a landlord, an insurer, a regulator — finished on site, branded, with a shareable link.
Photographs carry GPS, time and the weather at that moment, and everything writes to the phone before it reaches a server.
Where we lose
Free for unlimited members is better than our pricing for any team, full stop. If your need is an internal safety programme rather than a client-facing document, Safesite is the rational choice.
The bit that actually stops people
Already built your template in Safesite?
Send it to us and we will rebuild it in ReportWalk by hand — same sections, same wording, usually within two or three working days. It costs nothing, you do not need an account to ask, and it stays private to you.

Questions
Is Safesite really free?
Yes, with unlimited members. There is a Premium tier at $16 per member per month.
Does Safesite work offline?
The vendor's wording is hedged: “Complete safety tasks with limited connectivity (offline mode).” No supporting documentation exists, so we would treat it as bounded rather than full offline support until tested.
Was Safesite acquired?
We could find no documentation of an acquisition. Safesite's own press page shows the Foresight spin-out in 2020 and a Series B in 2022 and nothing since. The iOS app was updated in July 2026.

How this page was made
Prices come from vendor pricing pages, offline behaviour from vendor help documentation, and quotes from G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, GetApp and the App Store, each carrying its reviewer, source and date. Where a claim comes from a customer rather than the vendor, the page says so. Where something is undocumented, it says that too. Software pricing changes — check the vendor before you decide, and tell us if you find something here that has gone stale.
