Fulcrum alternatives
without the seat minimum

by Spatial Networks

Fulcrum's offline engine is genuinely good. Its pricing floor is what most people are actually searching to escape: $43 a user, five seats minimum, annual only — $2,580 a year whether one person uses it or five.

Why people are looking

$2,580 a year for one actual user

The list price is $43 per user per month. The part that decides things is the five-seat minimum, billed annually. A sole trader, a two-person consultancy and a five-person team all pay the same $2,580.

For a well-staffed environmental or GIS team that is reasonable per head. For anyone smaller it is the single biggest number on this page.

Two directors cancelled five days apart in April 2026

One, a director in environmental services, calls the cost unviable for any small business or new startup, and in the same review uses the phrase 'price bullying'. The other, also a director, cancelled after years of use and describes the resolution of an overbilling dispute as slow.

One caveat we will not skip: there is no published price rise. It is inferred from dated first-hand reviews, not announced by the vendor. The testimony is solid; the announcement does not exist.

The name will make your research harder

At least three unrelated products are called Fulcrum. If you search the term expecting field data collection, you will get reviews of things that are not it. Add 'Spatial Networks' and the noise drops away.

The other side of it

What you give up by leaving

The offline capture is the real thing: records, photos, video, audio and signatures all collected with no connection, with media uploading as it reconnects. One limitation worth knowing — draft records do not sync between devices.

More importantly, Fulcrum is not a form builder that happens to store locations. It has a genuine geospatial data model — layers, coordinate systems, API pipelines out to whatever you feed.

If you do GIS work, nothing on this list replaces that. You would be choosing a cheaper tool that does a smaller job.

What users actually wrote

Verbatim, with reviewer, source and date

The cost has become ridiculous and as such it's completely unviable for any small business, or new startup.
Juri M., Director, Environmental Services · Capterra, rated 1.0 · 21 April 2026

The same review is titled 'Beware of price bullying'.

massive cost increase to the point where we cancelled our subscription, been using it for years
jamie C., Director · Capterra, rated 1.0 · 16 April 2026

The same reviewer describes the handling as 'pretty dismal in the end and slow to return our overbilling amount'.

The user subscription model for us as a start up is confronting.

The alternatives

Every price below is the published list price for a single user at the time of writing. Where offline behaviour is undocumented by the vendor, it says so rather than guessing.

Mitti (formerly SafetyCulture)

Works offline

Free for 10 seats

Premium $24/seat/mo billed annually

Best for
A safety or facilities team at more than one site that needs forms, actions and assets in one place.
Offline
Broad. Inspections, actions, assets and reports all work offline; analytics, the template editor and the public library do not.
Watch out for
AI features are now metered per seat, and April 2026 reviewers report changes landing without migration tools.
Platforms
iOS · Android · web

GoCanvas

Works offline

$1,044/yr

$29/user × a 3-user minimum, annual only

Best for
One admin designing a form once and pushing it to a whole crew, with dispatch and integrations attached.
Offline
Genuine — a rich client that fills forms with no coverage at all. Credentials revalidate on a 24-hour default timeout, extendable to 30 days.
Watch out for
The 3-user minimum makes it $1,044 a year even if only one person ever opens it. Owned by Nemetschek since June 2024.

Fieldwire by Hilti

Works offline

Free

Basic: 5 users, 3 projects · Pro $39/user/mo annual

Best for
Coordinating several trades against versioned drawings — plan overlays, RFIs, punch items.
Offline
Genuine and vendor-documented on mobile. You must log in once while online, and offline has to be enabled per project.
Watch out for
Offline is not supported in the Windows app, and every 2025–26 release aims at larger ERP-connected contractors.

Zuper

Offline, with limits

Contact sales

no public pricing page

Best for
Field service businesses that want dispatch, scheduling and invoicing wrapped around the inspection.
Offline
Documented but limited: jobs, checklists, notes and inspection forms work offline. Quotes and invoices do not, attached images are not cached, and offline data expires after one day.
Watch out for
The one-day offline expiry and uncached images are the two limits that matter in the field.

ReportWalk

Works offline

Free to start

monthly plans for higher volumes

Best for
One person who needs the report finished before they leave the site.
Offline
Photos, voice notes and answers are written to the phone first and sync when signal returns. A whole inspection can run in a basement with no bars.
Watch out for
iPhone only, and it is deliberately not a business platform — no scheduling, no invoicing, no CRM.

Disclosure — this is our site

Where ReportWalk fits

If what you needed Fulcrum for was structured field capture that survives no signal, and the output is a document rather than a dataset, this is the cheaper shape of the same idea.

Photos, voice and answers write to the phone first and sync when signal returns. Conditional forms only ask what applies. The result is a branded PDF and a shareable link, with GPS, timestamp and weather on every image.

It is free to start, and there is no seat floor to clear before you can try it.

Where we lose

There is no geospatial data model here — no layers, no coordinate systems, no API pipeline. If your deliverable is spatial data rather than a report, Fulcrum is the right tool and its price is the price.

Questions

How much does Fulcrum cost?

$43 per user per month with a five-seat minimum, billed annually — $2,580 a year at the minimum. That figure applies whether one person or five actually use it.

Is there a Fulcrum alternative with no seat minimum?

Yes. Mitti, formerly SafetyCulture, is free for ten seats. Fieldwire's Basic plan is free for five users and three projects. ReportWalk is free to start for one person. GoCanvas still has a three-user minimum at $1,044 a year, which is lower but not absent.

Does Fulcrum work offline?

Yes, and it is one of the better implementations in this category: records, photos, video, audio and signatures capture with no connection, and media uploads as the device reconnects. Draft records do not sync between devices.

Did Fulcrum raise its prices in 2026?

No announcement exists. Two directors posted 1-star reviews five days apart in April 2026 describing a cost increase, one of them cancelling over it. We are reporting what customers said, not confirming a price change.

How this page was made

Prices come from vendor pricing pages, offline behaviour from vendor help documentation, and quotes from G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, GetApp and the App Store, each carrying its reviewer, source and date. Where a claim comes from a customer rather than the vendor, the page says so. Where something is undocumented, it says that too. Software pricing changes — check the vendor before you decide, and tell us if you find something here that has gone stale.
