Fiix vs eMaint

This page exists because of an unusually good piece of evidence: one named maintenance planner reviewed both products within six days while switching between them. Neither Fiix nor eMaint has published a comparison, and neither has any editorial outlet.

Who wrote this, and what we sell

We make ReportWalk, which is not a CMMS and is not competing with either product here. We have no relationship with Fiix, eMaint or their parent companies. Our own tool is mentioned once at the bottom, and only for a narrow case.

The short answer

Fiix

Choose Fiix if you want a genuinely free starting tier and month-to-month billing, or if you are in a plant already standardised on Rockwell Automation. Both of those are real and neither is common at this end of the market.

eMaint

Choose eMaint if configurability is what you are buying and you have someone to do the configuring. The reviewer below left Fiix specifically because he wanted a system he could change.

If your complaint about either is complexity rather than capability, be careful moving between them. eMaint's most consistent criticism elsewhere in our research is that it is cumbersome to navigate — which is the opposite problem, not a solution to it.

Who actually switched, and why

One reviewer is one reviewer, and we are not going to build a trend out of him. What makes this worth publishing is that both halves are attributable, dated and consistent — which is more than either vendor's marketing offers.

Fiix → eMaint

We are actually leaving Fiix and going to Emaint which is fully customizable and easy to work with and a much better value for the money.

Fiix → eMaint

No development support, not able to provide proper system support and changes

The same named reviewer, on the other product's page, six days earlier — giving his reason for leaving. A buyer documenting his own switch from both sides is the rarest artefact we have found in any category.

Where they genuinely differ

Price, from each vendor's own page

Fiix publishes a free tier covering 25 active preventive maintenance schedules, then Basic at $45 per user per month and Pro at $75. Month-to-month billing is available.

eMaint does not publish comparable per-seat pricing publicly. Where a vendor does not publish, we leave it as contact sales rather than repeating a directory's estimate.

The trap in Fiix's offline mode

Fiix documents that most features of its mobile app work offline. It also documents this: if you log out of the app before it has synced, any changes made offline will be lost.

Logging out is a thing people do without thinking — switching accounts, handing a device over, troubleshooting. The consequence is silent. Credit to Fiix for documenting it; it is still worth knowing before you rely on the offline mode.

Who owns what, because it affects the roadmap

Fiix was acquired by Rockwell Automation, completing in January 2021. The footer on the live product site now reads that Fiix is a trademark of Rockwell Automation — Fiix is no longer a company.

That has been better for customers than the usual story. The free tier survived, the pricing stayed public, and the product ships every few weeks. But it does mean the roadmap answers to an industrial automation strategy rather than to CMMS buyers alone.

What each is honestly better at

Fiix

Starting cheaply and staying flexible. A real free tier, published per-seat prices and month-to-month billing are all unusual for a CMMS with a $9 billion parent, and all three survived the acquisition. If you are evaluating without budget approval, you can actually use it.

eMaint

Being shaped to your process. Sam H. left Fiix for it explicitly on configurability and support for changes, and that is the thing eMaint's buyers consistently say they are getting. For a maintenance operation with unusual workflows, that matters more than price.

What we could not verify

  • eMaint's current per-seat pricing. It is not published in a form we could cite with a date.
  • Whether Sam H.'s experience of Fiix's development support is representative. It is one named account.
  • An observation we could not corroborate anywhere: fiix.com currently redirects to an unrelated lead-generation site, while the live product is at fiixsoftware.com. We found no source discussing this and have not been able to confirm it is intentional or permanent. It takes five seconds to check yourself.
  • Reddit was unreachable in every research session.

If neither fits — a third shape of tool

Neither of these is an inspection tool, and if what you actually need is the inspection half — walking equipment, recording condition, producing a document someone else signs off — that is a smaller job than a CMMS. ReportWalk does that part and nothing else: no work orders, no parts, no PM schedules.
