GoCanvas alternatives
without the three-user floor

Canvas → GoCanvas (2017) · acquired by Nemetschek, June 2024

GoCanvas has one of the better offline form clients in this category. The reason most people search for an alternative is arithmetic: $29 a user is fine, and a three-user minimum billed annually is $1,044 whether three people use it or one.

Why people are looking

$1,044 a year, minimum

$29 per user per month, three users minimum, annual billing. A sole trader pays the same as a three-person team.

It is a gentler floor than Fulcrum's five seats at $2,580, but it is still the reason a one-person operation looks elsewhere before it has filled in a single form.

A credential timeout you should know about before the job

The offline client is genuinely rich — it fills forms with no coverage at all. But credentials revalidate on a default 24-hour timeout, extendable to 30 days.

That is not a flaw so much as a setting, and it is the setting to change before a week in a dead zone rather than during one.

Nothing confirmed since the acquisition — which is itself the question

Nemetschek acquired GoCanvas in June 2024. We found no announced price rise, no sunset, no forced migration in the review window.

The open question is where the product goes inside a large construction-software group. That is worth asking before a multi-year commitment, not a reason to leave.

The other side of it

What GoCanvas does better than most of this list

One administrator designs a form once and pushes it to an entire crew, with dispatch and integrations attached. That distribution model is the product, and it is well built.

The offline client is a genuine rich client, not a cached web page, which shows the moment the signal goes.

If you have three or more people filling the same form, the minimum stops being a penalty and the tool starts making sense.

What users actually wrote

Verbatim, with reviewer, source and date

It can be slow or can glitch at times and some forms are hard to customize.

Integrations suck. Their cancellation process is a joke!! They don't give you a place to reduce seats or to cancel…
Trevor M., Manager, Construction · Capterra · 28 August 2024

Outside our eighteen-month review window and not confirmed as still current. Included because seat reduction is directly relevant to a page about seat minimums — but date it, do not rely on it.

The alternatives

Every price below is the published list price for a single user at the time of writing. Where offline behaviour is undocumented by the vendor, it says so rather than guessing.

Mitti (formerly SafetyCulture)

Works offline

Free for 10 seats

Premium $24/seat/mo billed annually

Best for
A safety or facilities team at more than one site that needs forms, actions and assets in one place.
Offline
Broad. Inspections, actions, assets and reports all work offline; analytics, the template editor and the public library do not.
Watch out for
AI features are now metered per seat, and April 2026 reviewers report changes landing without migration tools.

Fieldwire by Hilti

Works offline

Free

Basic: 5 users, 3 projects · Pro $39/user/mo annual

Best for
Coordinating several trades against versioned drawings — plan overlays, RFIs, punch items.
Offline
Genuine and vendor-documented on mobile. You must log in once while online, and offline has to be enabled per project.
Watch out for
Offline is not supported in the Windows app, and every 2025–26 release aims at larger ERP-connected contractors.

Fulcrum

Works offline

$2,580/yr

$43/user × a 5-seat minimum, annual only

Best for
Geospatial and environmental field teams that need layers, coordinates and API pipelines, not just a form.
Offline
Genuine. Records, photos, video, audio and signatures all capture offline and media uploads as it reconnects. Draft records do not sync between devices.
Watch out for
The 5-seat annual minimum is the whole story: one user costs $2,580 a year.

Zuper

Offline, with limits

Contact sales

no public pricing page

Best for
Field service businesses that want dispatch, scheduling and invoicing wrapped around the inspection.
Offline
Documented but limited: jobs, checklists, notes and inspection forms work offline. Quotes and invoices do not, attached images are not cached, and offline data expires after one day.
Watch out for
The one-day offline expiry and uncached images are the two limits that matter in the field.

ReportWalk

Works offline

Free to start

monthly plans for higher volumes

Best for
One person who needs the report finished before they leave the site.
Offline
Photos, voice notes and answers are written to the phone first and sync when signal returns. A whole inspection can run in a basement with no bars.
Watch out for
iPhone only, and it is deliberately not a business platform — no scheduling, no invoicing, no CRM.

Disclosure — this is our site

Where ReportWalk fits

For one person, the whole seat-minimum question disappears. ReportWalk is free to start and priced per person, not per team.

Forms are conditional — they only ask what applies, so a section that does not exist on this property does not appear. Photographs, voice and answers all write to the phone first.

What comes out is a finished document rather than a row of data: a branded PDF and a shareable link, produced on site.

Where we lose

There is no admin console, no crew distribution, no dispatch and no integration layer. GoCanvas is built for one person equipping many; we are built for the one person.

The bit that actually stops people

Already built your template in GoCanvas?

Send it to us and we will rebuild it in ReportWalk by hand — same sections, same wording, usually within two or three working days. It costs nothing, you do not need an account to ask, and it stays private to you.

Questions

How much does GoCanvas cost?

$29 per user per month with a three-user minimum billed annually — $1,044 a year at the floor, regardless of how many people actually use it.

Does GoCanvas work offline?

Yes, genuinely. It is a rich client that fills forms with no connection. Credentials revalidate on a 24-hour default timeout, which can be extended to 30 days.

Is there a free GoCanvas alternative?

Mitti, formerly SafetyCulture, is free for ten seats and is the strongest free option for team forms. Fieldwire's Basic tier is free for five users and three projects. ReportWalk is free to start for one person.

Who owns GoCanvas?

Nemetschek, which acquired it in June 2024.

How this page was made

Prices come from vendor pricing pages, offline behaviour from vendor help documentation, and quotes from G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, GetApp and the App Store, each carrying its reviewer, source and date. Where a claim comes from a customer rather than the vendor, the page says so. Where something is undocumented, it says that too. Software pricing changes — check the vendor before you decide, and tell us if you find something here that has gone stale.
