Who actually switched, and why
Three departures in seven months to three different products, none stating a reason — all direction-only records. Legacy enterprise EAM is a consistent donor to every modern CMMS in our research, and this is the clearest example of that pattern.

Where they genuinely differ
Two generations of the same idea
Maintenance Connection is enterprise asset management with the depth and the implementation weight that implies. MaintainX is mobile-first maintenance built after smartphones.
Most of the difference follows from that gap rather than from any particular feature.
Pricing
MaintainX publishes a free tier, Essential at $20 per user per month annually and Premium at $65.
Maintenance Connection does not publish comparable public pricing, so that stays contact sales.
What each is honestly better at
Maintenance Connection
Enterprise depth and the integrations that come with a long-established platform. Organisations that need asset management woven into ERP and finance are not served by a mobile-first tool, and replacing it is a programme rather than a purchase.
MaintainX
Getting used. Its mobile design is what technicians praise, and a free tier lets you test adoption before writing a business case — which is the opposite of how enterprise EAM is normally bought.
What we could not verify

- This is a low-volume comparison with no vendor page on either side, so demand is unproven.
- Reddit was unreachable in every research session.
If neither fits — a third shape of tool
If the inspection round is the part still running on paper alongside the EAM, that is a separate and much smaller problem. ReportWalk handles the walk and the document and integrates with nothing.
