MaintainX vs Mitti (formerly SafetyCulture)
We should say this before anything else: we found no evidence that anybody switches between these two products. Not one reviewer, in either direction, in any corpus we searched. This comparison exists because vendors built it, not because buyers asked for it.
Who wrote this, and what we sell
We make ReportWalk, an inspection app. We are not one of these products. We have written this as a how-to-tell-which-you-need explainer rather than a comparison, because the evidence does not support treating them as alternatives.
The short answer
MaintainX
You need MaintainX if your problem is work: something is broken, someone must fix it, parts and time must be tracked, and the asset has a history that matters.
Mitti (formerly SafetyCulture)
You need Mitti if your problem is evidence: a check must be performed, recorded, and produced later to show it happened. The output is a record, not a repair.
Most organisations with both problems end up with both tools, and that is a reasonable outcome rather than a failure to decide. The bridge between these categories is built almost entirely by vendors, not by customers.
Who actually switched, and why
Zero cross-category migration edges found in either direction. Not one reviewer left a CMMS for an audit platform, or the reverse. The only content connecting these categories is written by third-party vendors selling into both. We are stating that rather than manufacturing a rivalry.
No migration evidence found
We could not find a single named, dated record of anyone moving between these two products in either direction. We are saying so rather than implying a flow that we cannot evidence.
Where they genuinely differ
The question that actually separates them
Ask what happens after the record is created. If the answer is that someone is dispatched, parts are consumed and a cost lands against an asset, that is maintenance management.
If the answer is that the record is filed and may be produced for an auditor, an insurer or a regulator, that is compliance and audit.
Most organisations have both. Very few have only one.
Pricing, which is not comparable
MaintainX publishes a free Basic tier, Essential at $20 per user per month annually and Premium at $65.
Mitti's free tier is ten seats indefinitely; Premium is $24 per seat per month billed annually.
Both have free entry points, which means you can test which shape fits without a procurement conversation.
Both have an offline condition worth knowing
MaintainX requires you to connect before switching to offline mode, so it can build a cache. Prefetch, not offline-first.
Mitti's offline coverage is broad but excludes analytics, the template editor and the public template library.
What each is honestly better at
MaintainX
Turning a problem into completed work with a cost attached. Work orders, assets, parts and procedures, on a mobile interface technicians will actually open. If something being broken is your problem, nothing on the audit side substitutes for this.
Mitti
Proving something was checked. Inspections, actions and the evidence trail behind them, free for ten seats, across 190-plus countries. If demonstrating compliance is your problem, a CMMS is the wrong shape entirely.
What we could not verify
- Whether anyone actually asks this question. We found no migration evidence and the only supply is vendor-built, which suggests the comparison may be a marketer's construct rather than a buyer's question.
- Mitti's API endpoints after its August 2026 rename.
- MaintainX's complaint record is unusually thin for its size, so we cannot fairly characterise its unhappy customers.
- Reddit was unreachable in every research session.
If neither fits — a third shape of tool
If the specific thing you need is the walk itself — a person, a building or a vehicle, a record, and a document at the end — that is narrower than either category above. ReportWalk does only that, with no work orders and no compliance dashboard.
