Spectora acquired HomeGauge on 1 April 2025. No sunset has been announced and the vendor says it continues as its own platform. What has changed is the language — HomeGauge's own pricing page now sells Spectora alongside it, and its owner describes it as the “classic desktop solution”.

HomeGauge is $89 a month. Spectora, on the same page, is $109. When a product's pricing page carries its acquirer's product at a higher price, that is a positioning decision rather than an accident.
Spectora's support documentation, updated 3 March 2026, says HomeGauge “will continue as its own platform” and that users of either product are not required to switch. Correction, 15 September 2026: an earlier version of this page also said that moving across requires a new subscription. That sentence is not present in the article as served today, so we have removed it rather than leave a claim we cannot see.
“Classic desktop solution” is the phrase to notice
No end-of-life has been announced and we are not going to imply one. But the description has shifted from a product to a legacy option, and that shift usually precedes a decision rather than following it.
If you are choosing a platform to run a business on for the next five years, the direction of travel is a legitimate input even when nothing has been announced.
Windows desktop with an iPhone companion
The architecture is a desktop report writer with a phone app attached, not a phone-first product. For a lot of inspectors that is a genuine preference — a real keyboard and a big screen beat a phone for writing.
The friction shows up in the companion. A 2025 reviewer who rates it four out of five says the iPhone app cannot take multiple photographs and periodically sticks in landscape when portrait is needed.

What HomeGauge does better than anything else here
The strongest offline statement of any product in this research: “You can do your whole report offline and just need service to upload it.” No cache limits, no prefetch condition, no per-item caps. Whole report, offline.
For inspectors who want to sit down and write properly, a desktop report writer is a better tool than a phone, and this one has been doing it for a long time.
If that is your workflow, do not let an acquisition scare you off something that works. Just get the roadmap in writing.

- A January 2026 reviewer reports weekend phone support was dropped and year-old tickets left open — that is a customer's account, not a vendor announcement.

- The homepage says reports generate offline; the zAssistant page makes no offline claim at all, so whether the transcription itself runs on-device is unresolved. The iOS app has not shipped since 27 July 2025 while Android shipped in September 2026.

Is HomeGauge being discontinued?
No end-of-life has been announced. Spectora's support documentation, updated 3 March 2026, says HomeGauge will continue as its own platform and that users are not required to switch either way.
